On what was maybe the best weather day in the last five years for the Smithville Invitational CC meet the West Platte Blue Jays ran well enough overall to finish 3rd out of 11 full teams.  The boys were led by the one, two punch of Phillip Pattison and Charlie Kinslow.  After running second and fourth for the first two miles, Phillip and Charlie exerted their will and pushed past the leaders to finish 1st and 2nd in the race, running right at 18:39.  Ryan Pattison continues to run well and finished 24th for the Blue Jays in a time of 20:34.  Isaac Helmich ran 4th for the Jays and Hutch Bartee finished as the Jays 5th runner finishing at 23:00.  Coy Taylor ran his best time of the season and Hunter Sadell, after twisting an ankle 2/3rds of the way through the race really pressed hard to finish in a time of 23:51.

The girls team only fielded four runners as Coach Lowe was resting a couple of runners to try to ensure good health for the end of the season.  Lexi Elmore ran a solid race finishing 4th overall in a time of 23:10.  Sophia Rush returned from an ankle injury to finish 11th in a time of 24:56 and Bella Clark battled some foot pain to finish 12th in 24:58.  Olivia Marquart continued to battle on the course running 33rd in a time of 30:28.  The Blue Jays are now off until they run at the Bishop Leblond Invitational, held at MO West on October 5.  Conference and Districts are both held out at Platte Ridge Park, so there are plenty of local chances to see the teams run in the near future.
