The West Platte Cross Country team had their final tune-up for Districts by participating in the Richmond Invitational on October 23rd.  Both teams finished the regular season on a positive note with the boys finishing 3rd out of 13 teams and the girls 4th.

The course at Richmond is rather difficult and the wind was also a factor on the times.  Phillip Pattison finished very strong again with a third-place finish in a time of 17:54.   Charlie Kinslow continued his excellent freshman year by PRing in the final regular season meet, running an 18:03 good for 6th place overall.  Charlie recorded the top freshman time over the last 12 season with our run of 18:25 earlier this year and only continues to drive that record down further.  Finishing the season well was Ryan Pattison who conquered the course 19:30 for a 19th place finish.  Isaac Helmich ran his season-best time of 20:17 to run 4th for the Blue Jays.  He might well be the key runner for WP's district hopes next week and has been working hard to get his times down to last season's level.  Hutch Bartee rounded out the top five for the Blue Jays finishing in 20:27 which is his 2nd best time of the season.  Coy Taylor continues to come on strong of late, running his season PR at 22:08 and Tristan Newkirk finished out the Jays team coming in 68th in 22:29

The girls also ran well on Wednesday with both Lexi Ellmore and Bella Clark turning in season-best times.  Lexi ran 22:58 and finished 10th overall while Bella was close behind, running 23:22 (12th), which is her second best time for a 5k.  Sophia Rush ran 3rd for the Blue Jays, crossing the finish line in 20th place with a time of 24:24,   Katie Groom was right behind her with a 24:48 and Gaia Carugati finished the best regular CC season a foreign exchange student has had at WP running 34th out of 73 runners in a time of 26:10.  Addison Rinehart continued to battle through some shin splits to finish 6th for the Jays and Olivia Marquart ran 7th.  Laura Hill ran her 2nd full race of the year in the JV race and took 30 seconds off from last time and earned her first medal of what hopefully will be a long and productive career.  The team hopes to see everyone out at Platte Ridge on Nov 2nd for the district races.  Please come out and support the Blue Jays!
