Over the last month, West Platte senior Hannah Kleman has traveled across Northwest Missouri to show three gilts at local, county fairs. On Thursday, July 11th Hannah showed at the Atchison County Fair in Rockport, Missouri. Her Hampshire and Berkshire gilt took second in her class and her crossbred gilt won the class. Her crossbred gilt went on to take 3rd place overall in the crossbred gilt show.

Hannah’s show season continued on Wednesday, July 17th at the Nodaway County Fair in Maryville. Once again her Hampshire and Berkshire pig took second in their class and her crossbred animal once again won its class. This was quite the accomplishment as the swine show in Maryville had very high-quality pigs.

Hannah ended her county show season at our local Platte County fair on July 27th. Hannah is the first West Platte student to exhibit swine at the Platte County Fair. Of all the county fairs Hannah faced the toughest and best competition at this fair. Her Hampshire gilt won Reserve Champion in the Hampshire show and her crossbred animal finished second in its class.

Miss Kleman will continue her show season at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia August 12th through the 16th.

Congratulations on your success and good luck at the state fair!
