The agriculture students at West Platte have been working for months in the newly constructed greenhouse were they have been planting and caring for over fifty plant species. This hard work has paid off and they are now selling the finished products. The FFA students at West Platte will be holding a plant sale, this will take place on Wednesday, May 1st, Friday, May 3rd, Tuesday, May 7th, and Thursday, May 9th from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm each day. The greenhouse will also be open on Saturday, May 11th from 8:00 am until noon.

The plants being sold include six perennial species, over twenty annual species, hanging baskets, ten varieties of tomatoes, including various heirlooms and ten pepper varieties as well. One major plant that we are marketing are mums. Many people think that Mums only offer fall color for one growing season, but if planted in the spring, mums will offer color year after year.

Most plants will be priced as followed: All four packs will be $1.50, 3.5” pots will be $3.00, 4” pots will be $3.50, and 4.5” pots will be $4.50. Hanging baskets will vary between $10-$20. Perennials are also individually priced based on the plant species. All single vegetables will be $2/piece and 4 packs will be $1.50. Cash or check will be the only accepted form or payments. Proceeds from the sale will be used to future plant purchases as well as general FFA expenses.

We kindly ask that you park in the HS parking lot and walk to the greenhouse that is located on the old football field. Students will be there to assist you with getting your plants to your vehicle.

If you have any questions about the sale feel free to contact Mr. Kurtz by email at [email protected] or by phone at 816-640-2292.
